Non-Profit Sector Mitigation, Preparedness, Relief and Recovery Planning for Pandemics and Disasters
Why is this important to the Non-profit Sector Organizations?
Similar to other sectors of community that are now becoming more concerned about pandemics and disasters, we in the non-profit sector in Manitoba have the same concerns about how our organizations and groups will meet these challenges, based on our capacity to plan, and be available during pandemics and disaster, and be operating in the recovery stage.
There is a growing need to build our sector's awareness of what these disasters/pandemics are and their impact on our organizations, as we continue to meet client and community needs.
This website consists of material from other sites that should assist us when we are planning for disasters/pandemics,including business continuity planning for our organizations to survive and recover, a range of checklists, information on best practices in emergency planning and management.
Emergencies (such as the H1N1 pandemic) raises difficult questions for non-profits:
1. How might an outbreak affect staffing capacity, the safety of clients, the viability of programs and services and the stability of funding?
2. How can organizations make decisions and communicate to stakeholders in an environment of changing or conflicting information while dealing with high rates of management absenteeism?
3. How can organizations match their response to the severity of the situation?
