MANITOBA NON-PROFIT SECTOR WORKFORCE SKILLS SURVEY – A Historic
Opportunity to Identify Non-Profit Workforce Skill Shortages in Providing Health
and Social Services in Manitoba Communities
Winnipeg — The Manitoba
Federation of Non-Profit Organizations Inc. is responding to the urgent need to
assemble skill shortage information of the 1000’s of our community-based health
and social service organizations providing services to all Manitoba communities.
This is the first stage of a longer-term strategy to address the non-profit
labour market to meet changing community needs.
Manitoba Bureau of
Statistics has been commissioned to conduct this survey to non-profit
organizations to develop an accurate profile of current and emerging labour
market challenges in the sector, and to be the contact for the survey
respondents. The information will be used by non-profit organizations, funders,
and government to develop future labour market strategies, including skill
training, recruitment and retention activities.
The sector has 8,220
organizations in Manitoba. At present, there are 174,622 employees in Manitoba,
Saskatchewan and the Territories, which constitutes 13% of the labour force.
Survey results will be available in January 2010.
